Following the lecture on cinematography, I have begun creating storyboards incorporating knowledge of angles with the intention of directing viewers' attention to particular events and composition of background and character placement. using the rule of thirds has immensely helped. Working in black and white is a good aesthetic for my film. Sin City provides similar uses of light and colour to that of what I will portray. Using light through windows to cast dynamic shadows and accenting sounds and characters with bursts of colour.
I have decided to approach the background colour with negative light. Lots of grey and black. My intention is to create a dark world initially. The music will be largely represented by moving colours, the likes of which the characters will have never seen. I could look into synesthesia as a means to represent the mixing of the senses. This would help tie together the themes of multimodality into the narrative, while providing the film with colour and meaning behind that colour.
Storyboards will be edited as elements of timing with music are discovered. The camera angles and assistance of reference footage have been noted on the right, alongside basic descriptions of what is happening on screen.
Notes:
To accompany this approaching production, I will need a table of actions such as backgrounds, character animations, elements which need reference, walk cycles, loops and potentially 3D modelling. By doing this will give me a better understanding of professional practice and regimenting production in a way that works efficiently and is reflective of studio work.
As mentioned previously, some more background scenery may have to be incorporated such as propaganda to boost the audience's knowledge of the film's themes.
The film contains lots of characters and backgrounds. Cutting the film down may have to be considered. I have even thought about splitting the film into two parts. The rave protest at the end could be a story itself.
